Questions ledger

At the Workshop Desk

The short answer first. Then the qualification that prevents an expensive misunderstanding.

01 / Does full-grain leather guarantee a better chair?

No. It describes the leather surface, not the frame, suspension, cutting quality or suitability for your household. Ask for the leather article and finish, then inspect the construction as a separate matter. Read the hide guide.

02 / Is aniline leather suitable for a busy family room?

It can be, if you accept visible change and the supplier confirms the finish suits the intended use. More protected finishes may be easier to maintain. Look at a substantial sample and ask what ordinary spills, sunlight and body oils may do to that specific leather.

03 / Are hand-tied springs always better?

No. Design, attachment, materials and workmanship matter. Different suspension systems suit different seats. Hand tying can allow careful shaping, but a well-engineered alternative may be appropriate. Compare the construction choices.

04 / Does a firm cushion last longer?

Not necessarily. Firmness is not the same property as durability, and foam density is not the same as hardness. Ask for the actual filling specification, test a representative cushion and learn what maintenance it needs.

05 / What should a bespoke quotation include?

It should identify the specification, price and applicable tax, approvals, timing, payment stages, delivery, change control and aftercare. Add access responsibilities and any agreed tolerances. Use the commission checkpoints.

06 / Can I cancel every custom order within a cooling-off period?

No. Some made-to-specification or clearly personalised goods are exempt from certain cancellation rights. Faulty-goods rights are a separate matter. The contract, jurisdiction and circumstances matter; seek consumer advice for your situation rather than assuming a general rule applies.

07 / Should I condition leather every month?

There is no universal schedule. Follow finish-specific supplier instructions; unnecessary products can change appearance or damage a finish. Gentle dust removal, sensible placement and prompt spill response are better starting points. Read the care sequence.

08 / Can cracked leather always be repaired invisibly?

No. The cause, material condition and location determine the options. Local repair or panel replacement may remain visible. Ask a specialist to explain the likely result and whether the underlying cause also needs attention.

09 / How can I check sustainability claims?

Ask which material, facility, certificate and scope the claim covers. A general logo does not establish every attribute of a finished chair. Request supporting documentation and distinguish environmental management, sourcing and product durability claims.

10 / Do you make furniture or recommend approved workshops?

No. This is an independent information website, not a manufacturer, retailer or workshop approval scheme. We do not take orders or certify products. Our working method explains how the ledger is assembled.
